Sonoma is one of my favorite spots for a wine country wedding! A little less busy (I said a *little*) than Napa, it has a very quaint feel and guests love exploring the downtown. Lots of hotels are centrally located, so it’s usually never too far to the wedding venue. Shawdi and Michael celebrated their wedding with a festive party of 230 guests, which filled up Tyge William perfectly and made for a really amazing atmosphere.
Shawdi is Persian Iranian, so we incorporated some Persian traditions such as a sofreh aghd at the ceremony, and Persian treats available throughout (literally the most delicious bites I’d ever had). The bride’s father had the honor of officiating the Persian portion of the ceremony, followed by an English translation.
One of my favorite parts of their dance portion. Our bride and groom shared a joint parent dance, and then halfway through, switched so Shawdi and Michael danced together again, Shawdi’s mom joined her dad, and Michael’s dad joined his mom so it was three beautiful couples dancing together and sharing joy. I thought that was so special to share the dance with their parents in that way. With two and a half hours of dancing to come, their guests did not tire out! It was an incredible party throughout the night, complete with Persian music intermixed and the most amazing glow sticks I’ve ever seen!
Big congrats to the newlyweds!
