Caleigh and Bryan contacted me on a Sunday, and we held their wedding that Saturday – the same date that they had met exactly 1 year prior.  Caleigh lives with cystic fibrosis and due to medical news they had recently received a few days prior, they chose to seize every opportunity of life and turn their engagement party that Saturday, into a wedding. It was an absolute honor to bring their wedding together for them, and it was truly amazing to see the wedding community and vendors come together for these two individuals.  The wedding industry can get a bad rep sometimes – that people overcharge just because you say the word “wedding”, or that we’re going to tell you all of these things you “have to have” to have the “perfect wedding”.  Well, what I saw transpire when I reached out to vendors was small business owners wanting to make a difference for Caleigh and Bryan.  Vendors moved schedules around, reached out to extended friends for favors – all to be there in this time of need.

We wanted the day to be focused on celebrating, so we opted for a cocktail style reception with a taco truck and salsa bar, rather than a formal sit down meal. The property their wedding was held at had so many nooks and crannies and benches, that it made the most sense to utilize the whole space and give guests free roam to explore and discover.  In lieu of favors, guests could drop a token into one of the jars and Caleigh and Bryan would make a donation. We also had a station where guests could sign up to become an organ donor, and a bucket list station for guests to put all their wishes and activities for Caleigh and Bryan to complete in their lifetime together.

One of the reasons I love weddings so much is all of the joy, hope and love they bring and inspire in all of the guests witnessing.  Their wedding, despite unusual and heartbreaking circumstances, was a happy occasion filled with SO much love and hope.  Caleigh and Bryan aren’t giving up on Caleigh’s health, ever.  If you would like to donate – you can find their Go Fund Me page here.  Their story has been written about in countless news articles online, and we are so honored to have been able to be a part of such an incredible wedding.  Please consider signing up to be an organ donor and make a difference to those in need.
