Food trucks are a great way to add some uniqueness, some more fun and some quirkiness to your wedding reception. There are so many options when it comes to food trucks, and the price is typically much more affordable than a full service caterer. Food trucks offer a more casual and cheery alternative to the standard plated meal that your guests are sure to remember. Take a look below at some of my favorite food trucks in the Bay Area and why I recommend them!
1. Pizza Politana
Because who doesn’t love pizza, and who says you can’t serve pizza at your wedding?! Pizza is one of those foods you know everyone will love, and Naomi and Joel will work with you to craft the perfect pizza menu. Their pizzas are freshly cooked right on site in their wood-fired oven, which is towed behind their truck. It’s a surefire way to make a big impression and the pizza is the best Neopolitan pizza around.
2. Roli Roti
Another one of my favorites, Roli Roti, offers tons of options from rotisserie chicken, porchetta and tri-tip to rosemary roasted potatoes, seasonal salads with local ingredients and polenta or quinoa. They can serve your guests off the truck (pictured above), or family style – both are great options, and always delicious. Meat lovers and vegetarians alike will love this truck, and Roli Roti is always willing to accommodate food allergies and food restrictions, just make sure they know ahead of time so they can come prepared.
3. El Tonayense
A great option for my fellow Mexican food lovers! This truck offers amazing Mexican food at such an affordable price. Not sure if everyone loves Mexican as much as you do? They are affordable enough that you could offer two food trucks to your guests and still be saving money over traditional seated or buffet style catering. While not every burrito or taco is always consistent in ingredients, it always consistently tastes amazing. Mexican food also is a great late night snack option as well! Another notable Mexican truck is Tacolicious who will also provide staffing.
4. Curry Up Now
If you like innovative Indian food, this is the truck for you! They have so many combinations for delicious food, and even serve in burrito or tacos – a stroke of genius. Such a creative, brightly colored truck that will be sure to make a great impact on your wedding and have your guests coming back for seconds.
5. Garden Creamery
This is one of the cutest food trucks around, and they serve my personal favorite wedding dessert – ice cream (and vegan sorbet)! Inspired by growing up in Hawaii, Erin started this food truck when she moved to San Francisco and offers tons of unique and complex flavors that will satisfy even your finest guest’s dessert palate, all made with organic and local ingredients and natural sweetener. You could basically say its healthy dessert 🙂 But seriously, this place has the best ice cream I’ve ever eaten.
6. Kara’s Cupcakes
If you desire a more traditional take on dessert, Kara’s Cupcakes is perfect for you! Kara offers an abundance of flavors, something sure to satiate your guests’ sweet tooth, and she even has gluten free cupcakes. Kara’s Cupcakes can also create a cupcake and cake display if you don’t want to serve the cupcakes directly off of her KaraVan (I mean, how cute is that?!). She even donates to charity with special cupcakes offered throughout the year! Feel good bonus!
7. Pacific Puffs
If you and your partner love sweet treats, stuffed with even more creamy sweet treats, this is the truck for you! Pacific Puffs turned me into a cream puff convert and now these desserts are one of my favorite. They can do a classic display at your wedding, or serve off the truck for added uniqueness. Their classic and hip truck filled with their yummy treats will be one of the greatest additions to your wedding!
Food trucks are an affordable and delicious alternative to standard catering. While they won’t take care of rental orders like full service caterers often do, these options are wonderful for the creative couple looking for a different take on the standard wedding food. These options, whether for the full meal or just dessert, will leave an impression on your guests and add a bit more festivity to your fun wedding! Keep in mind you may have to hire a staffing company if you’re having a sit down meal (think: someone to take care of setting up the place settings, napkins, refilling water, clearing plates and glassware).
Is there a food truck you love that I left off my list? Let me know in the comments!
